HEAL's mission is to advocate for and empower individuals in socioeconomic need to achieve holistic well-being. We accomplish this by organizing and sponsoring wellness programs, events, and retreats while fostering community collaboration and providing health resources to promote well-being for all.

Well-being Sponsorship

HEAL Foundation sponsors wellness events, workshops, retreats, coaching, and support groups.  HEAL supports the inclusion of patients by providing support to those of low socioeconomic status and marginalized populations.

Organization Members

Mazen Abbas, DO, MPH

Dr. Abbas is co-founder and president of the board of directors of HEAL Foundation.  He is a  pediatric gastroenterologist focusing on mind-body medicine and the role of the microbiome in the health of his patients.  He is also a US Army veteran, former triathlete and holds a Masters in Public Health with focus on environmental and occupational health. He believes the inclusion of health coaching and an integrative approach is essential to healing. Currently, Dr. Abbas is part of an Integrative Medicine Fellowship at George Washington University.

Susan Abbas 

Susan is co-founder and the Director of HEAL Foundation.  She is a trained life and wellness coach, yoga teacher, TRE somatic trauma release practitioner, and holds a certificate of Hawaiian and Indigenous Health and Healing from the University of Hawai'i.  She co-organizes and facilitates women's retreats in Hawai'i.  She has a deep interest in a whole-person integrative approach to healing, with a focus on stress management and nervous system regulation.  She has a background in business management, environmental education, and native plant restoration.
